The project sponsor should have great freedom to act on the behalf of the top management in the individual project. The project sponsor has the important task of anchoring the project with all stakeholders and has the overall responsibility for the business relationship with the customer.
Good interaction with the project manager, in which both understand the other’s role and situation, is a key ingredient in a good project.
