Project roles


When staffing projects, you should start from the cometencies, time and dedication the task requires, rather than from people's positions in the company's line organization. This provides greater flexibility when formulating the individual project's organization. Often the same person can have several roles, so it is important to be clear on the roles each person has in various situations. The project organization is dynamic; its makeup changes often over time.

The purpose of role descriptions is to clarify the primary tasks of each individual in each project. As in a sports team, however, the tasks of each role are not static and must overlap for good results. For the project to be successful, the people involved must play their roles and work naturally together.
