1960–1967 The project concept began to crop up. Torbjörn and Gun-Lis Wenell founded the company in 1967, calling it Projektadministration AB. The focus was on planning, and later on computer-assisted project management.
1968–1972 Development of a training model. The company took the initiative to creating a project management association, Föreningen Nätplan (today called Svenskt ProjektForum). Companies hired Wenell consultants as project managers and project administrators. The company provided extensive training in planning techniques, teaching thousands of participants skills such as network planning.
1973–1980 Management in focus. Behaviorists were brought in. Wenell held its first training courses in project management. Reexamination and renewal of the perspective on planning.
1981–1987 Focus on workflows and processes. The maneuverability model was developed and holistic thinking became important. Project Management School became a hub of skill development. Projects as a format for work became increasingly common not just in large projects, but in the everyday functioning of many organizations. More and more tasks were being performed as projects. The company changed its name to Wenell Management AB, now with a focus on streamlining project activities as a whole, not just individual projects.
1988–1993 The concept of “projectivity” began to gain ground. The company started branching out, with offices in Malmö and Göteborg. Models for integrated product development began to evolve.
1994–1996 Interaction with universities and colleges grew. Research and development on the project format burgeoned. Wenell helped found the Swedish Project Academy, Svenska ProjektAkademien. Our network expanded and a new way of thinking and working in projects developed.
1997–2000 Leadership training expanded, while our range of other courses evolved extensively. International collaboration increased. The number of consultants doubled. Our range of services for supporting projects and project-intensive businesses expanded.
2001–2003 Our website increasingly became a meeting place for people interested in projects. We published our generic project model there and also offered it to customers of Projektplatsen.se. Project Management School continued to expand, now offering courses in Stockholm, Göteborg, Malmö, Linköping, Uppsala, Umeå and Eskilstuna.
2004–2005 A new perspective on the project format and its application in various activities developed. In 2004, Wenell and Fenix performed research programs for the first time in Arena Projekt—a creative meeting place for people actively pursuing projects, as well as researchers and consultants. Short theme get-togethers with exciting topics were arranged regularly under the heading Meet Wenell.
2006– In 2006 we have finished extensive development of our training material, both in form and content. The material is available in Swedish and English. In the past few years, we have done assignments not only in Scandinavia, but also in Europe, Latin America, the USA, Southeast Asia, China and India.
