In this phase, the concept is studied from a broad perspective. The intention is to seek, describe and select alternatives, and assess the value and feasibility of the concept. By describing why and how the project should be realized and what results can be achieved, you can enhance your understanding of the concept.
Some important steps:
• Describe the background and circumstances
• Identify stakeholders and their needs, and your own wishes
• Describe possible results that may cover the needs and wishes
• Select one of the described results and possibly a backup alternative
• Clarify the conditions, risks and factors for success of the chosen result and backup alternative
• Decide whether the concept should be realized in a project or in some other way
• Do a rough estimate of the need for skills and resources, and the time needed for realization
